“My roommate has been going here every Saturday for two years. The banana french toast is genuinely life-changing and the vibe is peak De Pijp.”
There is a reason half of De Pijp shows up here every weekend, and it is not because they ran out of other brunch spots. This New Zealand-Brazilian kitchen does something to breakfast food that should probably be studied. The banana french toast with salted caramel and bacon is the dish everyone talks about, and I am not going to pretend I am above that. I have ordered it more times than I want to admit.
The space itself is small. Like, genuinely small. There are maybe thirty seats inside and a handful more outside when the weather cooperates. On Saturday mornings you are looking at a twenty to thirty minute wait if you show up after ten. Here is what I do: get there at nine, grab one of the window seats, and watch the rest of the line form while you eat. Feels smug but you earned it by waking up early on a weekend.
The menu leans hard into the fusion thing. Brazilian-style eggs with black beans. Huevos rancheros that hit right. Acai bowls if you want to feel virtuous after a long Friday night. But the french toast is the reason people keep coming back. Get it once and you will understand.
Coffee is strong and good. They use a local roaster and the flat whites are excellent. The juices are fresh-pressed and not cheap, but worth it if you had one too many drinks last night.
Now for the honest part. The wait on weekends is real and there is no reservation system. You show up and you wait. The tables are tight, so this is not the place for a group of six trying to spread out. Couples and groups of two or three are ideal. The bathroom situation is one tiny room downstairs, so plan accordingly.
Pricing is fair for what you get. Most dishes run between twelve and eighteen euros. Not the cheapest brunch in Amsterdam but also not the most expensive, and the portions are generous enough that you will not need lunch.
If you are staying in De Pijp, this should be your first morning. If you are not staying in De Pijp, take the tram to Ferdinand Bolstraat and walk two minutes. Go on a weekday if you hate lines. Go on a Saturday if you want the full experience of what a De Pijp morning actually feels like. Either way, order the french toast. I am not going to tell you again.

Albert Cuyp Market
The biggest street market in Amsterdam. My neighbor goes every Tuesday for fresh stroopwafels and cheap flowers. Go hungry and bring cash.
O'Donnell's Irish Pub
My buddy watches every Premier League game here with a Guinness in hand. Proper Irish pub, proper pints, and the pub grub hits different when you are homesick for comfort food.
Brouwerij Troost
My roommate's go-to brewery. They brew everything on-site, the beer flights are a great way to try local craft beer, and the terrace in summer is hard to leave.

Local FavoriteMy coworker took me here on my first week in Amsterdam and I have been going back monthly. The rotisserie chicken is absurd. No reservations, show up early.
